#1 COON SHRIMP CURE - HOW TO CURE COON SHRIMP FOR STEELHEAD

Start with adding roughly 4 ounces of dry Ultimate Shrimp Cure  and 3/4 cup pickling or Kosher salt to a quart jar.

  (One bottle of Ultimate Shrimp Cure will make 3 quarts of Coon Shrimp)  Do this outside as the Ultimate Shrimp Cure is a fine powder and the dye is very powerful and will stain anything it comes into contact with.

 Add frozen or recently thawed Coonshrimp or prawns to the quart or pint jar fitting in as many as you can. 

Add distilled water to the jar filling it to the base of the concave on the jar seen in photo.

Screw leak proof lid on tightly and LIGHTLY shake the jar to disperse Ultimate Shrimp Cure evenly throughout water in jar as seen in jar on right in photo.

All Ultimate Shrimp Cure powder is fully dissolved, now place jars in refrigerator.  After the first 12 hours flip tightly sealed jar upside down to allow shrimp at top of jar to become fully submersed.  Flip them daily for the first two weeks.

After 3-5 days you will notice most of the dye has absorbed into the shrimp and they are ready to fish.  At this point you can add your favorite salmon or steelhead attractants such as Pro-Cure Shrimp Prawn oil or Pro-Cure squid oil.  For added longevity flip the jar daily for the first two weeks and a couple times a month there after.

Ultimate Shrimp Cure produces the best Coonshrimp for plunking steelhead and plunking salmon.  This recipe works perfect for plunking on the Columbia River.  Add your favorite bait oils such as Pro-Cure Shrimp/Prawn oil or Pro-Cure crawfish oil to the jar once the cure has set in.
